The M-Enabling Virtual Leadership Briefing will run under the theme “A New Reality for Digital Accessibility.” The Briefing will be a fast-paced, two-hour program featuring dynamic interviews with thought leaders, engaging discussions, live polls and moderated questions from
the audience. It will specifically address the issues surrounding pandemic challenges and new triggered trends in digital accessibility and include an exclusive featured address from Google’s Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist, Vint Cerf and Valuable 500, Founder and Creator, Caroline Casey.

The 2020 Interagency Accessibility Forum celebrates the 75th observance of the National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). Virtual panel discussions will focus on three areas: Customer Experiences & Content Creation, Acquisition & Program Management, and Innovation–in the federal government and internationally.

Centre for Universal Design Australia is delighted to bring you the 4th Australian Universal Design Conference. After the success of previous conferences we have set our sights across the wide world of universal design. This year the theme is, “Thriving with Universal Design: Everyone, Everywhere, Everyday”. The theme provides opportunity for anyone working with or researching universal design and inclusive practice to contribute to this growing body of work. Universal design is itself explained in a diversity of ways across the world: “design-for-all” and “inclusive design” are other terms used. Designing universally means being inclusive of a diverse population. It is a process that enables everyone to participate in social and economic life regardless of age, background or level of capability.
About The Conference
The INCLUSIVE AFRICA CONFERENCE provides a dynamic new forum to explore global best practices that improve accessibility and inclusion for all people, particularly persons with disabilities and the elderly.
The conference agenda will include discussions about the impact of digital accessibility on employment, education, government services, businesses and plenty of face-to-face opportunities to share knowledge and network.
Conference Objectives
- Raise awareness among leaders — government representatives, educators, ICT sector, Fintech, city planners, business leaders and other African countries — about the long-term benefits of digital inclusion (assistive technology and digital accessibility)
- Showcase global best practices in implementing accessibility standards, policies and programs: UK Digital Government Service,Australian Government Accessibility Policy,European Accessibility Act and more
- Promote Universal Design & Inclusive Innovations: How are IT innovations being used to generate more inclusive settings, products and services. Examples: M-PESA (mobile payment), Lazarillo (wayfinding app and platform), Netflix (captioning of series).
The online event entails a full-day television broadcast including interviews, debates, and success stories, with a second day featuring workshops, sessions, and side events. The 2020 Smart City Experience will be an interactive virtual event that will bring together an ecosystem of actors from different sectors – municipalities, community organizations, businesses, and citizen groups. During the event, participants and experts will explore avenues for collaboration, share knowledge and find ways to build the cities of tomorrow.
Session information: On November 26, James Thurston, VP at G3ict will be part of the session on ‘Are we designing smart cities for all?’ that will explore how today’s smart cities work for the 1 billion persons with disabilities across the world.
